Winter 2021 Piano Recital

Hi, Everyone! Our winter piano recital will be held on Saturday, December 11 at Emerald C Gallery in Coronado. There will be recitals at 10 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, and 4 pm. You can stop by the gallery anytime it's open to have your student try out the beautiful grand piano! Sign up is here. Remember siblings each need their own slot. You will see a $50 recital fee on your January invoice. Students may only play 1 song. Talk to you teacher if you aren't sure if your student is ready to participate. Here is some additional information about our recitals:
• We have 2 recitals per year, in June and December
• Recitals take place at Emerald C Gallery in Coronado (behind the Brigantine)
• There will be a sign-up sheet in the 2 newsletters leading up to the recital, and also a separate e-mail for sign-ups (usually about 15-20 kids per recital, about 30 mins)
• Usually there are 4 recitals throughout the day: 10 am, 12 pm, 2 pm, 4 pm
• There is a $50 recital fee per family (it will be on their July or January invoice)
• Any student can be in the recital
• Students do not need to memorize their song, though it’s encouraged
• 1 song per student only
• OBJECTIVE: to remove any/all negative connotations from the word “recital” - i.e. share your love of music with your family and friends, have fun, and eat cake!
• Even little ones (3-4 years old) can participate: they can sing “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star,” “Mary Had a Little Lamb,” “Jingle Bells,” “5 Little Pumpkins,” or a song from their Wunkerkeys book, etc. while their teacher accompanies
• Former and current students will know all about the famous “recital punch” that we do every single recital! There will be recital punch and recital cake following the recital in the outside area of Emerald C Gallery.
• Every student (has the option to, but most do) read 1-2 sentences about their song before they play. A bit of history on the song, the composer, why they’re playing it, a poem, etc. For little ones, often the older brother/sister will interview him/her: “What is your name?” “Dane!” “How old are you?” “5!” “What are you playing for us today?” “Little Lost Kitty!” Mariah or your teacher will write this card, and for veteran recital-goers, they can help with the writing process, too!
• Registration deadline is December 1.
